Nikola Djurek is a type and various media designer from Croatia. He studied in his homeland, Italy, and the Netherlands, where he attended the Postgraduate Master Course Type and Media at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He earned his PhD degree in the graphic and type‑design field. Furthermore, he is a Partner and Type Director at Typotheque and an Associate Professor at the Design of Visual Communication of the Arts Academy (University of Split).
Focusing on the juxtaposition between history, modernity, heritage, and novelty, he positioned himself as a talented type‑designer and graphic artist with a recognizable and unique style. Nikola’s work boasts a spectrum of numerous and diverse fonts and typographic solutions.
Aside from creating pleasing typesets and striking visuals, Nikola’s creativity can also be observed in producing precious wines with Gjurek Wines and beer with Devetka, a Croatian craft brewery producing various beverages. In addition to teaching at the University, Nikola lectures and leads design workshops worldwide.
